                                           WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10, 2010

 

1.  Attention Juniors:  You will be taking the MME tests this week.  You will have breakfast in the cafeteria at 8:00 a.m.  You will have 15 minutes for breakfast and then Mrs. Hooper will take attendance at the front door before you board the bus.  Once you are at St. Mary’s Center, Mrs. Lopez will take a lunch count.  On Wednesday, you will arrive back here at approximately 11:45 a.m. and again lunch will be available for those who wish to stay and eat.  On Thursday, March 11th, lunch will be provided at St. Mary’s Center following testing which should be at approximately 11:00 a.m. 

 

Please bring #2 pencils and an approved calculator for the math portion of testing.  There will be only a few available for use.

 

DO NOT bring cell phones, pagers, ipods, timers, or ANY other digital/electronic equipment to the testing site.  If you do, you will be asked to hand them in at the door when you arrive.

 

Please be on time, well rested and ready to do the very best you can.  If you have any questions and or concerns, please stop in to the Guidance Office.

 

2.  Attention Varsity Girls Basketball Players:  Please turn your clean uniform into Lucie Sertich by the end of the week.

 

3.  At last Thursday’s 2010 Quiz Bowl Championship, Ray Willett placed 3rd in the overall 9th grade finals.  Max Hogue led the team placing 3rd in language arts and math.  He also took 1st place in the 10th grade finals.  With all of these honors he was declared the overall Tournament Champion earning a $250 scholarship and giant shiny plaque.  Each Quiz Bowl member qualified for the competition making them 1st in the top 15 in the county.  Bryan Schneider qualified as 1st in current events on the pretest.  Joseph Schlichting placed 1st on the qualifying pretest in social studies and 11th grade finals.  He also beat every other Quiz Bowl student in the area by 21 points on a 100 question test.  Great job to all Quiz Bowl members for a great fall and winter season.  Anyone interested in joining next year should contact Ms. Conley or Max Hogue.

 

4.  Kingston is hosting a 3 on 3 tournament on April 24th at Kingston High School. Flyers are available in the high school office.

 

5.  Boys in grades 9 through 12 interested in signing up to play baseball can do so in the high school office.

 

6.  Students interested in playing on the golf team can sign up in the high school office.  The golf meeting has been changed to Monday after school.

 

7.  Join the Kiwanis Club with your family and friends for a trip to Comerica Park on May 15th to watch the Detroit Tigers play the Boston Red Sox.  See the flyer in the high school office for details.

 

8.  Chamber Ministries is hosting a night of fun at the Deckerville High School this Friday, March 12th with a live band, prizes, games, food and ice skating.  See the flyer in the high school office for details.
