Harold Titus, Superinten= dent, reported that Sanilac County has been selected as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People, thanks to the efforts of both the Sanilac Cou= nty Kid’s Connection, which has as its partners the Sanilac County Board = of Commissioners, Community Mental Health, Family and Juvenile Courts, WMIC Sanilac Broadcasting Systems, all seven Sanilac school districts, law enforcement, faith based organizations, local businesses and over 15 nonpro= fit organizations ranging from the Child Abuse Prevention Council to McKenzie Memorial Hospital to the Sanilac County Hockey Association; and the Sanilac County Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council. CPS students Caroline Thoms, Christopher Curran, Brian Hosler, Natasha Falls, Jordan Alexander, Ashley Sherm= an and Sean Walsh serve as members of the Youth Advisory Council and bring great p= ride to their community, as well as the CPS School District.

Harold Titus reported th= at Governor Jennifer Granholm has proclaimed the week of Fe= bruary 10th as Principals’ Week and the Board of Education commended Ann Binienda, High School Principal and Joseph Sutherland, Elementary Principal= for their hard work and dedication to the students of CPS.

Pass= ed:         = By unanimous vote that the Carsonville – Port Sanilac School District Bo= ard of Education approves the agreement with the St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency to provide the District with Zangle, a Student Management program, which will replace the Power School Program currently used at CPS.

The Board of Education reviewed the current Board Policy on the cancellation of extra-curricular e= vents when school is cancelled and agreed that the present policy is still the be= st policy for CPS:  If school is cancelled either before school or during the school day for any reason all athletic or academic practices/events scheduled for that day will be cancel= ed.

 

= VI.&= nbsp;         Information

Harold Titus, Superintendent reported that= :

·      =    State law requires that all Michigan School Employees must be fingerprinted by June of 2008 and all new school employees must be fingerprinted before school begins. CPS employees were fi= ngerprinted on Monday, February 11th.

·      =    The Instrumental/Music positron for= the 2008-09 school year has been posted. =

 

Joseph Sutherland, Elementary Principal, reported that:

·         Elementary Family Fun Night has been rescheduled to Wednesday, February 20th.

·         Elementary Scotch Doubles will be at Liberty Lanes on February 16, 2008.

Ann Binienda, Hi= gh School Principal reported that:

·      =    The CPS JH Quiz Bowl Team was undefeated for the second consecutive month. Team members include Maxwell Hogue, Bryan Schneider, James Amey and Caleigh = Lein

·      =    Junior High Students participated i= n a ski trip on January 23rd and the Alternative Education students attended the auto show on January 24th. Both groups of students showed exemplary behavior and received compliments from their chaperones, the staff of the places they visited and the bus drivers. Thank you to chaperones - Mrs. Maher, Mr. Doland, Mr. Macejewski, Mrs. Long and Mr. Lowry.=

·      =    Mrs. Binienda also gave the monthly discipline report and scheduled a meeting of the Curriculum Committee meeti= ng to be held on March 6th at 6:00 p.m.
