A. Equestrian Team
This item was tabled
until the regular January 2009 Board Meeting.
B. Wind Turbines
Harold Titus, Superintendent reported
that Michigan State University has removed the anemometer and tower which has
been measuring the wind speed at the High School every hour for the last year.
Results of the study will be sent to the District and Brion Dickens, consultant
will be at the January 2009 Board of Education Meeting to review the study.
C. Bus Crossing

Passed: By unanimous vote that the Carsonville – Port Sanilac School
District Board of Education approves the parental request to allow students to
cross the road when getting off the bus.
D. Bus Inspection
Harold Titus
reported to the Board that the Transportation Department received a
“Certificate of Excellence” for achieving a 100% pass rate on the annual
Michigan State Police School Bus Safety Inspection. The Board commended Kim
Cunningham, Transportation Director, Chris Smigill, Bus Mechanic and the CPS
Drivers.
E. Alternative Education Building
Harold
Titus, Superintendent reported that plans for the Alternative Education
Building are progressing and the building is scheduled to arrive during the
month of December.
F. Public Input
Margie
Christenbery, Business Manager passed out to the Board of Education samples of area
School Districts’ Public Input Policies for Board of Education Meetings. The
Board will review these policies and address this matter again at the regular
January 2009 Board Meeting.
G. Athletic Committee Report
Craig Schneider presented the Athletic
Committee Report. The Board of Education approved the following
recommendations.

District Board of Education approves the JH Athletic Program joining with the
Greater Thumb JH League.

District Board of Education enthusiastically & aggressively approves a move

Margie Christenbery, Business Manager
reported that the student count will be 627.5 and she will be seeking copier
bids.
Joseph Sutherland, Elementary
Principal reported that

The
Elementary & High School Holiday Band Concert will be held on Wednesday,
December 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Gym.

The
Elementary Holiday Program, for grades K through 4th, will be held
on Thursday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m.
Ø
The
PTA is sponsoring a carnival on Friday, January 23rd from 6-8 p.m.
in the gym, cafeteria and halls of CPS Elementary. There will be a wide variety
of games, booths, food and fun. Please plan to attend.

News and World Report recognized Carsonville – Port Sanilac High School as one
of America’s Best High Schools. “In just its second year, America’s Best High
Schools has proven to be a trusted source for educators, students, and
especially parents making important decisions about their children’s
educational future,” said Brian Kelly, editor of U.S. News and World Report.
“Not only do our rankings highlight schools succeeding at the highest national
level, but the Best High School package also allows communities and states to
compare schools at a local level and measure why some are doing so well. This
is the most comprehensive and inclusive information on hundreds of high schools
nationwide.”

Nicole Miodowski & Susan Cole be commended for their help with a student
experiencing seizures.

Schneider reported that Bryan Schneider, Quiz Bowl Team Member had a 4th place
win at the Peck Competition.
