Curriculum Directors Scott Bular and Brenda Cutler reported that:

o    MEAP Testing for grades 3-9 will start during the week of October 20th on the dates specified by the State of Michigan. Students have spent part of their time during the first few weeks of school reviewing for their MEAP tests in the four core areas (English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies).

o    MME Testing will take place on March 10th, 11th and 12th. On the first day students will take the ACT Test, on day two students will take WorkKeys test and on day three the Michigan Math, Science and Social Studies. These tests are the first MME tests based on the new curriculum standards that were adopted by the state three years ago.

o    Teachers who give the ACT/MME test have been attending conferences to get updates in each core area and receive information on test construction changes and scoring guidelines. The underlying theme of these conferences has been that the tests are not going away and that Districts need to step-up the rigor in their curriculum to match the state requirements.

o    Future students are required to contact the school district in writing prior to the start of the school year if they wish to test out of a class and the testing must be completed before the first week of school. A score of 85% is needed to be eligible to advance to a higher class in a core sequence.

o    The Elementary School is now using the program Aims Web Program to track student progress.
