B. Brion Dickens – Energy
Presentation
Brion
Dickens, Alternative Energy Consultant, spoke with the Board of Education
regarding the year long wind study conducted by Michigan State University at
CPS. He also discussed with the Board how a turbine could be used as a teaching
tool in school wide curriculum and help the District
to become more environmentally friendly. All data recorded by this study is

C. Employee Resignation

Service Aide, with regrets.
D. Elementary Aide Position

Education approves the hire of Nancy Metrovich to the position of Elementary
Aide.
E. Public Input
The Board of Education reviewed sample
policies regarding the public speaking at Board of Education Meetings. A
tentative policy was formed and will be reviewed at the next Board Meeting.
F. School Board Recognition
January is Board Appreciation Month and Mr. Titus commended the CPS
Board of Education on their positive, futuristic attitude in providing
direction and guidance to the District. He also honored them with a resolution
and certificate of proclamation from Governor, Jennifer Granholm and a
Certificate of Appreciation. Staff, students and community members are also
encouraged to let Board Members know how much they are appreciated.
G. Graduation Speaker
The Board of Education discussed various speakers for
the June 2009 High School Graduation Ceremony.

Installation
of the foundation for the Alternative Education Building began today (January
8, 2009). Cement will be pored on Friday, (January 9, 2009) and the buildings
will arrive next week.

Amey, Board Treasurer applied for and received, on behalf of CPS Schools, The
Walter J. McCarthy, Jr. Volunteer Leadership Grant.
Ø
The
Carsonville – Port Sanilac School District will have two (2) - four year Board
of Education vacancies on the May 5, 2009 regular election ballot. Candidates
must file Nominating Petition(s) and an Affidavit of Identity with the Sanilac
County Clerk’s Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. (A
$100.00 nonrefundable fee may be filed in lieu of a petition.)
